This Course is a required discipline approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and is conducted following requirements under the Module Accreditation Plan (MAP). It is also, strictly regulated by the State of Michigan, Department of Consumer and Industry Services, Department of Occupational Health/Asbestos Division. Individuals who are required to have this level of training and receive accreditation include:

  1. Persons who are to inspect for asbestos containing material in schools or public and commercial buildings.

  2. According to the EPA-MAP, anyone participating in any of the "core" activities such as identifying, quantifying, or sampling suspect asbestos containing material, etc. The State of Michigan's interpretation regarding sampling ACM is less stringent than the Federal regulation, which is in violation of the MAP and, as such, the accreditation certifications are denoted differently.

  1. Physical Characteristics of Asbestos
  2. Potential Health Effects Related to Asbestos Exposure
  3. Employee Person Protective Equipment
  4. State-of-the-art Work Practices
  5. Personal Hygiene
  6. Additional Safety Hazards
  7. Medical Monitoring
  8. Air Monitoring
  9. Any relevant Local, State, and Federal Regulatory Requirements

In addition, the course discusses, with scenarios and work problems, the techniques necessary to accurately inspect building and compile enough data to construct management plans and asbestos control documents.

Includes manuals, test and certificate.
Duration: Three-8hr. days.
